An invitation to develop your voice through photography.

Creative Approach is a series for those looking to broaden their understanding of photography and deepen their ability to communicate with their photos.  iPhone, 35mm film and DSLRs users are welcome and encouraged to attend.  Your camera is not the limiting factor of your photographic ability. This exciting series develops your creative approach to photography through the exploration of documentary, self-portrait, portrait and landscape genres. Learn to cultivate your curiosity and build a sustained desire to photograph the world around you.

Session Outline:

  • Session 1: Creativity and Vision – An Introduction to how we see, the process of creating meaning, and ideas surrounding creativity.
  • Session 2: Scavenger Hunt – Documentary assignment critique. Looking at how we interpret images and develop visual literacy.
  • Session 3: Multiple Personalities – Self Portrait assignment critique with an emphasis on understanding the psychology in depicting people and ways we build identity.
  • Session 4: Lost Letters – Portrait assignment critique. Looking at the double portrait and building on psychology in depiction.
  • Session 5: The Dimensions of Space – Landscape Assignment Critique, seeing space and understanding the choices made in depicting land.
